The purpose of the master stream discharge in water tower systems is to attack fires from an elevated position. Master streams are powerful streams of water that can be discharged from a height, allowing firefighters to effectively reach and combat fires in multi-story structures or extensive areas that may be difficult to access from the ground. While supplying water to ground crews and creating a water barrier are important functions in firefighting, the distinctive feature of a master stream discharge is its capability to deliver large volumes of water from an elevated vantage point directly onto a fire, thereby maximizing the effectiveness of the water application. Storing water for future use does not pertain to the operational use of master streams but instead relates to water supply systems, which aim to maintain a reservoir for firefighting efforts.
